Mr. Murdoch is a joint venture partner with Birch|REA; his own firm, Williams Murdoch, is located in New York City and is a member of the Maestro Partnership, of which Birch|REA is also a member.  As the President of Williams Murdoch, Mr. Murdoch also works with Birch|REA as a Senior Advisor on select projects.

Mr. Murdoch is an internationally experienced real estate professional who began his career in the late eighties with the London firm of Healey & Baker, advising European investors on cross-border property acquisitions. After working with Healey & Baker, Dusseldorf and Hamburg, he joined Bayerische Vereinsbank in Munich in 1993. Remaining with Bayerische Vereinsbank through its 1998 merger with Bayerische Hypotheken- und Wechselbank to form HypoVereinsbank, Mr. Murdoch worked in the bank’s Hamburg, Berlin, London and New York offices before co-founding Williams Murdoch, Inc. in New York in 2003. 

A Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) in London and a designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI) in Chicago, Mr. Murdoch has advised on property and development portfolios across the UK, Germany and US, and has also consulted on individual assets in Canada and the Republic of Ireland for a broad variety of European, North American and Asian real estate investors, lenders and developers.

After co-founding RICS USA in 2000 to support US-based members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and to promote the chartered surveying profession in this country, Mr. Murdoch served terms on the national association’s Board and General Council, and was elected inaugural President of RICS USA’s New York/New Jersey/Connecticut Tri-State Chapter. In 2001 he was nominated to a two-year term representing the entire Americas region on RICS International Governing Council.

Mr. Murdoch has a keen interest in the opportunities and challenges presented by the globalization of the real estate industry. His experience as both a provider and a user of professional real estate services in several countries has taught him that while real estate markets are local by nature, and that while international real estate markets thereby appear fragmented, effective networking and the strict application of best practices and professional ethics can ensure consistency, transparency, reliability and, above all, quality in real estate business across the globe.
